Day 1. RONCESVALLES DOOR OF THE ROAD

09:30 a.m. Pick up at the accommodations and go to visit Roncesvalles. The historical defeat of Charlemagne and the Camino de Santiago made Roncesvalles memorable, a shelter for walkers and pilgrims, a focus of legends and a meeting of cultures. The solid walls of the collegiate church, built in the shelter of the port of Ibañeta, will protect you from the hostile winter and will transport you to a world of battles and myths. A place of passage where history and legend are concentrated, Orreaga / Roncesvalles is a beautiful forest area located in the Navarrese Pyrenees and which is the point mostly chosen by pilgrims to start the Camino de Santiago in Spain.
