We will spend a magnificent day in the family lands of Julian Iantzi. The millenary culture and mythology of these ancient Basque lands will take us to remote places and distant times, where beliefs and survival marked the social life of our ancestors. Lesaka It is a very beautiful town, with a lot of history and with many things to teach and tell. The Zabaleta Gothic Tower (15th century) where the Duke of Welington settled to invade France, The Minyurrenea Tower (also Gothic and from the same century, one of its owners was a collaborator of the great Balenciaga couturier), The Kasino house where the ancestor family of the Maritxalar (ex-son-in-law of the Spanish King Emeritus) until the people threw them out for trying to be a counter power in the town.
Then we will go to a magical place, San Juan Xar (Igantzi). A spiritual sanctuary within a natural sanctuary. That is San Juan Xar, a space declared a "Nature Reserve" in 1987 for treasuring the only autochthonous hornbeam forest or Carpinus betulus, also known as Birch trees, of the peninsula. At the heart of this unique place, we find a cave-hermitage with a fountain of three jets whose waters, which according to popular belief, have miraculous healing powers against skin conditions. We will count and do the ritual.
Then we will visit Elizondo, administrative center of the beautiful Baztán Valley, and we will see its Indian houses, its old streets, ... etc. We will know the places through which the stories of the famous Baztán Trilogy, a book by Dolores Redondo, passed. We will eat at the Santxotena restaurant that appears in the book. We will continue our trip to Zugarramurdi and visit the Sorginas and Akelarres caves, a place of pagan celebrations. Spectacular, magical and setting, among other things, from the film Las Brujas de Zugarramurdi.
